Urgent action is needed
Scientists agree we need to cut heat trapping emissions to zero by 2050 to avoid the worst effects of climate change - waste reduction and energy efficiency are important but can not get us all the way to net zero.
Nearly all emissions come from fossil fuels
Extracting and burning fossil fuels for energy - creates the vast majority of carbon emissions. In the U.S. and other industrialized nations, this accounts for over 80% of annual emissions. It will not be possible to prevent a climate crisis until we STOP burning fossil fuels.
Most household emissions are from energy
60% of household emissions for the average American comes from burning fossil fuels for the energy we purchase. It is possible to drive those emissions to ZERO with clean energy and electrification.

We can use renewable energy for nearly all our energy needs, and stop burning fossil fuels. Wind and solar are now the lowest cost sources for energy generation. Renewable energy is making the electric grid cleaner every year. We can use clean electricity to power efficient electric devices for heat, transportation, cooking and more.
Lower energy costs
A typical U.S. household spends over $4,000 per year on energy expenses for electricity, gasoline and natural gas. Almost all of that money is spent on fossil fuels which are creating the climate crisis. New electric products are far more energy efficient than fossil fuel powered devices.
