About Us
“The good news is that there are resources out there to turn to if you’d like to electrify your home. Here are some of our favorites:
ELECTRIFY NOW, Menlo Spark, Building Decarbonization Coalition”
Alex Laskey - Co-Founder, Rewiring America
“Avoiding the worst impacts of climate change requires us to transition away from fossil fuels to clean energy sources. This will require systemic changes in how we power our homes and move people and goods both here and abroad. ELECTRIFY NOW is a helpful way to understand how we can all take action to move to the clean energy system we need by starting now in our own homes.”
Ken Kimmell - Former President, Union of Concerned Scientists
“The ELECTRIFY NOW concept is a simple but powerful way to understand how we can all make a real difference in creating a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable future.”
Doug Moore - Executive Director, Oregon League of Conservation Voters.
“I try to live as sustainably as possible. Until a year ago, this largely meant recycling and minimizing waste. ELECTRIFY NOW opened my eyes to the biggest part of my carbon footprint: burning fossil fuels for energy. I vowed that my house would be all electric ASAP.”
Anne Kramer - Portland homeowner
The transformation of our energy systems is one of the most important projects in human history and the way we live decades from now will depend largely on how urgently we act today. Each of us is a part of this system and the energy choices we make can help to change it for the better. We believe that taking the Electrify Now actions will make everyone’s lives better, save them money and help ensure that we create a healthy planet that will be a prosperous place for all. We are a volunteer organization and have created this website because we feel this information should be more widely available. We are devoted to make it as simple as possible to understand and as easy as possible to take action.
Climate change does not affect all of us equally. Frontline communities suffer the most and have the most to gain from quickly transitioning to clean energy. We are committed to furthering climate justice by raising awareness of this issue and working to deliver solutions which reduce carbon emissions and also promote racial equity.
