Fact: Community Solar makes a big impact

More and more Community Solar projects are coming online across the country. These local small utility scale projects provide 100% renewable energy to the electric grid and give access to that clean energy to homes in the community. Subscribers get discounted electricity rates and in many states these projects are required to provide even larger discounts to low income subscribers. These programs provide local green energy jobs and have added over 2,500 Megawatts of clean energy to the grid in the US.

Here is a short video on how Community Solar works and why it is such a great benefit.

Sign up for Community Solar

Common Energy has community solar programs in Oregon, Massachusetts, Maryland, and Illinois and is adding projects in Virginia, New York and Pennsylvania in 2021. They have the simplest sign-up process and best user dashboard info that I have found. Check their website for availability in your area. Common Energy will make a $25 donation to the Electrify Everyone Fund to install free high efficiency heat pump water heaters in low income homes in Portland when you sign up through this portal.

If you live in Oregon and use PGE or Pacific Power for electricity, sign up with Oregon Shines for projects that are going live in 2021.

If you live in Oregon and use PGE for electricity, Neighborhood Power is also signing up subscriptions for projects going live now.
