4. Electrify Everyone
Equity is essential
Communities of color and low income families are most effected by climate change and the pollution from fossil fuels. These families are more likely to live in areas with high exposure to air and water pollution from highways, power plants and fossil fuels infrastructure. Front line communities have the most to benefit from electrification, but are in danger of being left behind by energy transformation or policies which do not consider the impacts to these communities. Energy policies that prioritize benefits for those most at risk benefit us all. Our charitable donations can help support programs that focus on climate justice.
These Oregon non-profits lower energy burden for our communities and reduce carbon pollution
Seeds for the Sol is a local non-profit that is helping income qualified families by installing rooftop solar and heat pumps with no up-front costs to the homeowners. The costs of these installations are repaid by the owners through the energy savings they receive. This can save a family hundreds of dollars per year on energy bills and reduce carbon emissions from our community.
Community Energy Project provides free home services focused on safety, health, and energy efficiency. We provide free community education and supplies, as well as direct home energy upgrades and repairs and free heat pump and heat pump water heater installation for low income families. All our services are made possible by partnerships with community members and service organizations, utilities, corporations, foundations, and government agencies.
Please help provide energy security for those who need it and bring our entire community along as we transition to clean energy for a healthy future.
