Going Street Commons – All Electric Community

Going Street Commons is a vibrant community of modern, all electric, zero energy-ready homes nestled in Portland’s Cully neighborhood. These homes are custom designed and built by Birdsmouth Design-Build and Green Hammer with high-quality materials and craftsmanship to deliver ultimate comfort and performance.  The community includes 11 homes situated around common gathering spaces and gardens. Homes feature modern electric energy-efficient appliances, abundant natural lighting, and building systems and finishes to help ensure healthy indoor air quality—all while being part of a community-minded neighborhood.

Built to meet high energy performance standards, homes feature super-efficient insulation and triple-pane windows—making them comfortable and quiet. Modern, efficient all electric heat pumps for water heating and space heating as well as high efficiency lighting and water-efficient fixtures reduce energy costs.  The heated tile floors in the primary bathroom add comfort. High performance induction ranges deliver a safe, premium cooking experience with exhaust hoods to maintain indoor air quality.  Whole-house ventilation improves air quality by ensuring fresh, filtered air is constantly circulating throughout each home. 

Because of their holistic design, the homes at Going Street Commons will use a fraction of the energy of homes built to meet code. Their energy-efficient design means they will maintain comfortable temperatures even during power outages. With the addition of solar panels (available as a buyer upgrade), the homes are designed to produce all their own renewable energy. And, the close-knit homes and open spaces mean residents will be able to get to know—and help out—their neighbors. 

Going Street Commons is seeking Earth Advantage® Net Zero Ready and Platinum Home Certification. Earth Advantage® Home is a third-party, high-performance certification program for new single-family homes developed to ensure homeowners that their certified home is energy-efficient, healthy and meets conservation benchmarks.
