John and Mandy- Retiring the gas

Early last summer, I attended a couple of ‘Electrify Now’ educational webinars via Zoom, along with other Nike colleagues. This convinced Mandy and I that electric heat pump systems would be perfect for our soon-to-be-replaced gas furnace HVAC (which had been limping along for the past two or three years) and our almost 15-year-old gas water heater.

First, we pulled the trigger on the water heater and had a new Rheem system put in by Great NorthWest Installations. It’s low maintenance and efficient, so we couldn’t be happier.

Then, in late summer, we had a Mitsubishi heat pump system installed through GreenSavers and we’re even happier with this. The GreenSavers systems were competitively priced and the team was efficient with the installation. They were adaptable too, as our electrical contractor – Brian Ferlan (who was also great) – was delayed a couple of days after having to help battle wildfires near his Molalla home. Thankfully Brian’s house survived, but he said that it was very close!

Despite spending more time at home over the last year or so, we feel as though our overall gas and electric bills are now lower. We feel as though we’re doing our bit for the environment and reducing gas emissions, but a big surprise has been how much quieter the systems are compared to our old ones, especially the outside fan unit… Think a Tesla versus a diesel truck!

In a nutshell, we’re very satisfied. Thank you to Brian and the team for helping to enlighten us.
