Electrify Stories - Renewable Electricity

Hear from people who have cleaned up their electric supply….

“We want to make good and responsible choices for the future. We signed up for Community Solar with Common Energy to power our home and our EV and E-Bikes, and we are truly enjoying exploring Oregon with these clean options. This is one way we can contribute to protect the earth and save it for the next generations. Its a win-win! We highly recommend people to sign up!”

“We thought we had signed up for green energy years ago, but recently checked and found that we weren’t, so I signed up.  The Renewable Power program with PGE is called Green Source, and all of the electricity we pay for now is from 100 percent renewable sources (wind, solar and geothermal power). It costs an additional $0.008 per kWh, which in our case added less than $6 to our bill last month, which was about $75. I’m really glad I checked, and, for the cost of a fancy coffee, I am very happy knowing we are using green power.”

“We went through Energy Trust to get recommendations on solar installers. Of the three options they provided, Tesla offered the largest energy output system, cheapest cost, and likely best aesthetics. They do most of their interactions through their website, so it takes a bit of trust as you are getting designs and making payments, but promise it all turns out great. They really are a quality product.”

“We have solar panels that provide a portion of our energy but not all that we need, so we also signed up for Community Solar. We save some money on electricity and get local clean energy, and I love that our electricity dollars help keep our beautiful Oregon skies clear. ”

“This month we moved to the completely 100% renewable energy plan from PGE - the Green Future option!”

“As we’ve been electrifying our house, we’ve also been increasing the energy production on our own roof. We paid $12,000 down in two separate solar panel system leases (7.2 kWs and 28 panels total) and received all that money back in state tax credits over eight years. We took part in an interesting pricing structure called a “prepaid power purchase agreement” and not only do we get our initial investment back in state tax credits but we also receive free solar power for 20 years, which is about $20,000 in free electricity.”

“It took me just 5 minutes at my computer to opt into our community energy provider’s Deep Green program. Now, for just a couple more dollars a month, my home is 100% powered by wind and solar. Previously, with PG&E, only 33% of my energy came from renewables. Switching to a renewable energy option is easy and cheap. And it feels great to know that my home runs on clean energy! “

“I signed up for this years ago and have been telling friends and family about it and how to do it. This is such a good option that we have and such an easy way to make a difference.”

“Ten years ago, we had switched over our home's electricity to PGE's Green Future for 100% renewable energy, which is now powering our car too. We love the feeling that we've replaced a huge amount of our carbon footprint. I'm trying to get all of my facebook friends to switch to their local utility companies' renewable option and to buy electric cars whenever possible."

Robert - Los Angeles, CA

"I recently switched my power plan to the LADWP Green Power Program. I posted my confirmation email from LADWP on Instagram and was happy to see people respond who were already in similar programs or who were looking for more information to make the switch themselves. It's a good feeling making such a small contribution and I've been trying to keep encouraging others to do the same!"

“We jumped at the chance to pay for Clean Energy. It was going to be slightly more expensive but worth it to increase demand for carbon-free renewable energy production”
